How do I start my own website?

I want to create a website, a sort of blog, where I can post my writings. I don’t want something that thousands of other people already have, like singing up for a myspace or facebook or xanga blog. I want my own website. Are there any suggestions on how to get started? For free possibly? Thanks very much.

Reply:If you want to post your writings on the Internet there are many sites that allow you to design a website for free. I would not recommend a free web host though. I would suggest using a web host that charges a small annual fee and will guide you in designing a website for your writings. My wife and I have built a website for our business through a program that is available online. This website has helped us to produce a website that is ranking high in the search engines like Yahoo and Google. These high rankings are bringing targeted traffic to our website for free. If you use free web hosts your traffic will be low, unless word of mouth takes off. The free websites cause many people to spend a lot of money on advertising their website. If you have good content you will get free traffic. You wont have to spend money on pay per click.
