Regular size models!?

Why is it that models must be unrealistickly skinny(example:like her--%26gt; http://xc2.xanga.com/db6b6550d2733471755...

OR plus-sized(example: http://www.plussizeliving.com/articles/i... )

I am normal and know a lot of normal healthy girls that are so pretty, but why do we have to either lose so much weight or gain that much weight to be models? Is there such a thing as "regular"models(in runways),And by regular I don't mean like Gisele bundchen(cause yea som people call her "regular")but like a size 4,or even size 6...

Regular size models!?
umm did you know the banned models of they are too skinny? one died of anorexia. when i saw her photos i wanted to PUKE. it was like.. a skeleton moving... btw the media puts too much pressure on girls to look the way they "should" so it basically revolves around the media and stuff. you can include other factors such as guys always thinking about sex and being thin is a benefit to it or w.e.
Reply:Well, the second girl may be considered plus size in the modelling industry, but she is certainly not plus sized in the real world. She's looked perfectly healthy and certainly not overweight or overfat.

Look at this way:

Normal size models = severely underweight

Plus size models = healthy weight

They rarely use plus sized women in the modelling industry, i.e. size 14 plus. Plus sized models start from a size 8! Don't let the modelling industry skew your view of what is healthy.
Reply:probably not...although i wouldn't complain if i was the first model....and im trying not to be the second...thats just me
Reply:Wooaaah.

That first girl looks scary.

Yeah, I know.

I don't see how being that skinny is "pretty" in the fashion industry.

I'm a model, and I'm normal...Athletic body.

I wish they just had normal people, with normal bodies doing runway modeling. It would look a whole lot better.
Reply:Those are commercial models! They are normal size, they model in magazine and usually do ads on TV too.

The clothing lines that advertise using commercial models usually do have runway shows:]
Reply:this is a big problem i agree...but we cant do anything we have to bear it...!
Reply:If you watch that Dove viral on youtube, a lot of the skinny models are made skinnier by photoshop.

And that plus size model is what I'd say is healthy. Although it's not a full shot and her legs look pretty muscular, but she's the attractive one, but I wouldn't describe her as plus size.
Reply:The first girl looks sick. The second girl looks perfect to me. To me, normal is between size 12 and size 18.

I totally agree with you.
Reply:hmmm... do you remember when Galiano brought a model that was a size 20 ? .. yes its true! they dont have regular models... its either too skinny or too fat.. i think people like jessica alba are the ones that should be put on a runway.. look healthy and are not short nor too tall! i saw models that were 6'4 !! YIKES! but if you had the face and the talent and a fit body, be 100% sure that they will want you, and if they dont its their loss! look at kate moss, she's only 5'6 btw. she doesnt have the face but she has the talent! she made everybody in the world think shés beautiful! why? her talent. So you practice and practice and be VERY confident with your body and yourself and when you do walk the runway, be yourself and show what u got!

Good Luck ;)
Reply:becuse skinny people look good.. i'm guessin u are some fat twat to be able to have a problem with it... if skinny people didn't look good then why would designers chose them to model their clothing?!
Reply:its the tradition to weight a certain kg/pounds to be a model.

Its a proffession after all.
Reply:OMG that first picture made me have a heart attack! That's SO skinny!

I agree with you. I'v never really seen a "regular" size model. It's always "too skinny" or "too big".

I mean come on!
