How do you feel about the government cracking down on video games?

90% of all politicians say that video games are just as dangerous as guns and narcotics, and they plan on spedning 90 million dollars to prove it.

What's your opinion?

How do you feel about the government cracking down on video games?
If they ban video games, then they should ban television shows, movies (especially Smokin' Aces, which sucked.), music and things we hear everyday. That's dumb. Long live State of Emergency! :]
Reply:Recently, a study showed that during the time video games have been available, violent crime overall has decreased. This is purely coincidental, but it disproves the notion that video games create violent behavior.
Reply:The government is just afraid of things that old people don't understand :(
Reply:While its true that violent video game content and violent song lyrics may tend to influence people towards negative behavior, does that automatically mean all video games are bad?

Case in point, Dance Dance Revolution. I have yet to see anyone who becomes more obese from dancing. West Virginia even incorporated DDR into their state-wide phys. ed. courses for the people (much like myself) who otherwise have no interest in P.E. I guess these politicians have never read stories about people who have lost weight doing DDR.

As for other kinds of games, I am not much of a "gamer" but I will play some old-school games from time to time. I think they have positive influences and can build useful traits, such as problem-solving and just keeping the brain active in general.
Reply:then they should ban rap music
Reply:Yes there should be a ban because wehat are we teaching our children.
Reply:Seems like it might be a waste of money. Also seems an easy target instead of going after real things.
Reply:Checking your link, your info comes from a gamers BLOG !! Hardly a solid resource.
